Recount - Part 1

(YHMH #397; 2023 — 117th Congress)

Hey y'all

Your House, My House is back! Just wanted to drop in here to say that my blog readers (all two of you) will notice a slight change in how my YHMH posts are titled from now on, which coincides with a slight change in format for how the stories are written.

I'll be talking about this more probably in its own post, but I recently launched Your House, My House on Webtoons, a site dedicated specifically for comics and comic creators. I've been starting from the very beginning at YHMH #1, but here's the thing: the format for Webtoons collects comics into "Episodes." For you Marvel/DC type comic book that what normally be collected in print as "issues," this is fairly straightforward. However, that is not what Your House, My House is; I've been describing it to people to school as The West Wing meets Peanuts and Breaking Cat News, so decidedly in the neighborhood of comic strip rather than comic book. However, there is an upside: You House, My House was originally supposed to be a TV show, so the story has already been loosely organized into "episodes" this whole time. Therefore, it's been pretty easy to retroactively re-format and combine several YHMH strips into a single episode to be published to Webtoons (this also requires arranging them virtically, all of which I do in Procreate).

With that in mind, my new storylines are being written very intentionally in an episodic format so that by the time I catch up by backlog to current events on Webtoons, everything from 2023 onward will fall right into place. However, I'm still going to be drawing the strips the way I always have — simple, horizontal, six (most of the time) panels, drawn on paper with pen and markers. The titles of my posts will change: now the title of the "episode" will come first, with each individual strip being labeled as Part 1, Part 2, etc...

Hopefully, this will not only confirm to the Webtoons format, but also make for more interesting titles readers will be more likely to click on. I can't wait to see what you guys think!

In the meantime, you can go here to check out my Webtoons (and please subscribe!).
